Earth Day Weaving Project
Celebrating Earth Day, second grade students from the New Song School in Baltimore City came to the Glenn Woods at Towson University to learn about nature and trees through the art making process.

01
Preparation
Preparation for the weaving activity included construction of the loom and choosing where to set up the weaving station. Additionally, a lesson plan was developed to articulate how to teach the weaving process to align with the National Standards of Art.
02
Teaching
Students learned about how spiders weave to create webs similarly to how Native American cultures weave fabrics on a large scale. Both the students and pre-service teachers came together to collaborate on this project and create a cohesive design.

03
Conclusion
The final product is a beautifully woven rectilinear shape made of various fibrous strips and small sticks that were collected in the Glenn Woods.
